This home didn't have the entertainment space to fit the Clients. We removed the bedrooms from one wing of the house and opened it up to include the Kitchen, Family & Game Room with its own bar. One room is great for parties and events, and it opens onto the pool area. We inserted a staircase in the far corner and added a Guest Suite upstairs with 2 bedrooms and bathroom. Longterm guests can keep to themselves or visit downstairs.
Options we considered included the shape of the roof (gable or hip), the location of the stairs, and built-in banquette seating with storage below. We also discussed locating the new Game Room & Bar in the Upstairs Addition, leaving the downstairs bedrooms in place.
